Champagne and Scones - Afternoon Tea At Milestone

Champagne and Scones - Afternoon Tea At Milestone LONDON

I am one of those people who take their tea drinking very seriously. With a cupboard few of teas from around the world, so when there was mention of meet up with a brew thrown in I was not going to let the occasion pass.  I couldn't say no when Selena, a Texan living in London and one of the bloggers I met when I was in Newcastle at the beginning of the year was organising an afternoon tea for London bloggers at the Milestone Hotel in Kensington. The hotel sits across from Kensington Palace where the very ritual of afternoon teas was born, so there was no better place to engage in conversations of the blogosphere with some 20+ other ladies than over a tea party across from where Her Majesty's tea receptions took place.

The Milestone is no stranger to luxury but combines luxury with a traditional British warmth and charm that takes you back in time from the moment you enter into the hotel. Tea time is not just an occasion catered to for ladies only, the hotel  also offers a gentleman's afternoon tea, tea for princes and princesses as well as catering to well-heeled ladies arriving in twos, threes or 12 twelves. With out party of 27 bloggers we were provided with our very own tea room in the Windsor Suite. The traditional elements of English tea with sandwiches, scones and clotted cream were combined with a la carte sweet items such as ganache-filled macaroons, mini vanilla cheese cake and carrot cake topped with a pistachio cremeaux and of course with Champagne flutes on arrival for each guest.

With tasty food and cups topped up with tea before you could even notice you were running low, the service was impeccable in surroundings you could easily lose an afternoon in. After much chats over what bloggers were currently writing or discussing on their blogs it was time head out and explore the rest of Kensington while I was in the area...

    1. I know what you mean, it doesnt make sense but I guess places feel like they are making the experience even more lux by adding champagne but I dont think its needed or required especially when there is a really good brew :)
