48 Hours in Milan | Visual Diary

The city was sunny and warm with smiley locals everywhere we turned. Milan is beautiful and cris-crossed with trams making exploring the city's attractions fairly easy but I still cannot put my finger on why I wasn't too impressed. Perhaps, visiting Lake Garda a few days before might have something to do with it. I was spoiled in the one of Italy's riviera region, with great lake views within a few steps from my hotel. Relaxing surrounds and fresh food and not the kind that i passed up as fresh just to fool tourists.  If you havent been to any of the towns around Lake Garda then you need to contact EasyJet, BA, RyanAir or whichever airline takes your fancy as this place is stunning! Verona - A Story of Romeo and Juliet

My first visit to the home of the famous lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Verona was the setting for Shakespare's tragic love story. The city is diverse with Roman ruins, Renaissance palaces, ancient churches and beautiful piazzas to sit by and people-watch. It's such a beautiful city with centuries of history witnessed by its architecture and artistic masterpieces left behind. I have been to Verona at at least 3 times now.

Verona lies in the north-eastern of Italy in the Veneto region. Situated perfectly with great links to the region's capital, Venice. You can easily travel to Venice(trains there less than an hour and a half) for the day and have Verona as your base. I have also passed through Verona to go to Lake Garda. The Big Blue: My Mini Guide to Lake Garda

Something curious happened the moment I stepped off the plane. Arriving in Verona on a hot Friday afternoon. In that very moment, it was as if the heat had suddenly melted all my cares away. I was ready to spend 5 days in Italy. With only a GCSE Italian to rely on I was determined to fully immerse myself in the culture.

Anyone that knows me or those that have traveled with me know, that I am a planner, and I will plan the whole trip in detail. From how I will get there to downloading local street maps on my iPhone, getting around; the best, cheapest, quickest ways to see the cities I visit including what not to miss out on. I suppose this is what traditional tourism tells us; seeing the standard city sites like landmarks and artworks as if the only things worth seeing. So this trip to Italy, I decided to do things differently. That of minimal planning. I wanted a more sensory and deeper travel experience, so there was no downloading of any maps or extensive research about the best places to eat, drink or museums around town. I was not going to slavishly follow a travel itinerary to the letter.
