I am off to Israel!

I cannot hold in any longer. I am off to Isreal!!! Well, in exactly 7 days I will be seeking not only sun, sea and sand, but a little spirituality as well. They say that a trip to Israel really changes you as a person, so I cannot wait to see it for myself, finally!  Also not to mention that there will be a  family reunion on the trip as well. As I normally plan everything to a 'T', this trip  is slightly different. Because there is a bit of reunion gathering so I will have to take things as they come.  We don't have concrete plans to visit particular places but I know there are places I don't want to leave without seeing.

Look Mum No Hands!

I recently wrote about my hunt for a new ride. In my hunt I have taken the search back to my roots. When I say "roots" I use that lightly in that I went to college in Clerkenwell Road which is a just around the corner from the bike hunting ground. I heard about a bike shop that does beautiful bespoke bikes, imported from none other than where the dutchies come from. I have put my name down for a red 3-5 speed bike. Another plus side to this place, The Bicycle Man to be exact, is that it does the Cycle to Work Scheme. So providing the bike comes under £1000 total including accessories then its all mine! My search of course was sweetened by one of my favourite cafes. Look Mum No Hands sits in the heart of Clerkenwell area in one of London's fashionable postcodes.  I could hang out here for hours. I normally bring my laptop with me and either catch up on some work, blog or just enjoy the relaxed and hip atmosphere with one of their cappuccinos.

Look Mum No Hands is not just any cafe, it has a bicycle repair shop attached to it. You can tell where the name comes from by just looking at the theme of the decor. Which is perfectly fitting with my search for a new bike. This places just goes to prove at how explosively creative our coffee culture has become in London. We are slowly moving away from the usual popular cafes chains and rekindling our love for more independent with an authentic feel. It doesn't come any better than Look Mum No Hands cafe. The cafe is a popular hangout spot for "two-wheels-good folk". They have an outdoor courtyard which is beautiful on sunny days.

Mundesley Beach | Sun, Sea & Sand

Mundesley Beach | Sun, Sea & Sand

For someone that works within IT and running a blog means I spend a lot of time on the laptop or peering at one gadget or another. This means that even when I am not at work I will find myself on the laptop, iPad or phone. With only 24 hours in the day, doing this 7 days a week can take its toll on you. This is a recipe for anxiety ridden days sometimes with an endless to-do list. After much resistance from Mr Awesome, I finally agreed to take a break from all gadgets, with the exception of my trusted Nikon - hence why I have pictures for you. So last weekend I retreated to Norfolk with Mr Awesome and with a few of his friends. This was not just any weekend but a Reiki Weekend Retreat. They rented out the Coastguard Cottage, cozy and beautifully decorated with a nautical theme.

A Weekend In Pisa

A Weekend In Pisa

Pisa, best known for the famous Leaning Tower. There is a lot more to Pisa than just its tower and we were going to spend a weekend in Pisa to find out! There are many piazzas filled with charming Italian architecture and streets filled performers entertaining locals and visitors. I had no idea Pisa had over 60,000 students enrolled at its university, so even without many tourists in the quiet seasons, it can still have an air of buzz about the place. Pisa lies in the region of Tuscany, a popular region in Italy that also includes cities like Florence, Siena, Lucca, Arezzo, and Livorno. The beauty of being in Pisa is not only Miracle Square, the home of the Pisa Baptistery, Pisa Basilica and Leaning Tower but the mere fact that you can also be in Florence in less than one hour. Pisa has regular trains to and from Florence, at least 3 in one hour.

Newcastle - Gateshead | Angel of the North

Newcastle - Gateshead | Angel of the North

"People are always asking, why an angel? The only response I can give is that no-one has ever seen one and we need to keep imagining them. The angel has three functions - firstly a historic one to remind us that below this site coal miners worked in the dark for two hundred years, secondly to grasp hold of the future, expressing our transition from the industrial to the information age, and lastly to be a focus for our hopes and fears - a sculpture is an evolving thing." -  sculptor, Antony Gormley

Kölner Dom | Cologne Catherdral

Kölner Dom | Cologne Catherdral

Milan has the Duomo di Milano, Barcelona has Gaudi's cathedral. Cologne has also been holding its cards close to its heart for it has the Kolner Dome. Awe inspiring and just magnificent. Stand in front of it and you get a sudden case of "honey I shrunk the kids" as its just huge! So huge in some parts it looks as though its heading for the heavens as parts of it disappear into the clouds on foggy days. Cologne Cathedral can be seen from almost any point in the city. In fact we were able to see it from the motor way miles and miles away driving into Cologne from Dusseldorf.
