Candlelight Club: Quantum Leap into the 1920's

A last minute invitation into the secret world of the roaring 20's. Well not so secret now that I am blogging about it.  Those in the know, fear not, as the readers will have to do their own hunting for the secret locations of 1920's revivals.

The Candlelight Club is a pop-up cocktail bar in a secret London venue completely lit by candles. My leap into the 1920's last Friday saw me attend a venue in the heart of Angel that was only revealed a few hours before  my friend transformed herself into a 1920's pin-up. Drop-waisted dress, string of pearls and a bob to suit. Stepping into an Egyptian themed dining experience from the 1920's and being cast back into the Golden Age of Jazz. The whole experience had a flair of naughtiness and decadence as the place was in full swing with people dancing cheerily as if celebrating a secret most Londoners have yet to be enlightened with.

Today's women were transformed and decked out in fringing, feathers and Louise Brooks bobs with an obscene amount of pearl strands in the room. Make no mistake, these were not festivities for just ladies to transport themselves back into the awakening of art and creative expression following the end of WW1.  Men also came dressed to impress in tailored double breasted suits with oxford bags and dashing trilby hats making an appearance too.

After a busy week on a still Friday evening on the 16th of November it was great to be leaping into the full swing of a music filled secret fantasy surrounded by good company with Jazz fueling the journey that ends at midnight. Another cool experience in a city that holds many a surprise. Definitely will be leaping back into the Candlelight Club soon and if you are in the mood for some time travelling then clutch those pearls, put on your flapper dress and sit tightly for the venue will be revealed shortly before the event is to take place.
